While texting throughout the week, between flirting and sending pictures, she and I made plans for another date. Our aquarium date went so well and neither of us wanted to wait that long before seeing each other again. We wanted to check out a shop that sold used books, coffee, and pastries. After that? Who knows, we left it open.
The temperature dropped leading up to our date. I kept adding layers as I tried to figure out what to wear. I knew this place had an outdoor patio, and I wanted to be prepared just in case she liked to sit outside. In the end, I settled on black jeans, a tight-cropped tee, a light cardigan, and a large jacket with a hood and pockets. Instead of my usual cross-body bag, I picked a big canvas tote for whatever books I might get.
I wanted to be cozy, warm, and prepared. She had already seen me be sexy, so now I felt more comfortable showing her my relaxed side.
The nerves I felt on our last date didn’t show up half as strongly now that we knew each other better. I was more excited this time, singing along to songs as I drove to meet her. The shop was right between us, and we both wanted to make things as easy as possible for the other.
I spotted her car in the lot as I pulled up, so I hurried inside not wanting to keep her waiting. As I opened the door a bell rang above me, and instantly, the comforting smell hit me. Coffee, bread, and old paper, what an intoxicating combination! I scanned the room for her and the wooden floor creaked beneath me as I shifted around.
Bookshelves made a maze of the space. A pair of plush chairs sat next to a fireplace, long tables tucked into corners with outlets and bar seating lined a row of espresso machines and cute baristas. Through the big glass doors and windows lining the back of the shop, I saw a sunny patio full of plants.
This was well on its way to being one of my favorite places ever. I sure hoped the drinks were good. I found a seat by the fire, still wondering where she was but not wanting to order yet. Then, I saw her round the corner. She smiled at me and held her arms out for a hug as she approached.
